Community

Liz Acosta/Level Playing Field Institute
The Foundation’s Community program focuses on two areas: local grantmaking in the counties of San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Francisco, and special opportunities, which includes support to organizations of special interest to the Board or President and CEO, as well as areas that fall outside of the Foundation’s primary programs, such as firearms violence prevention, journalism, and emergency response grantmaking.
Grants made under this program are generally one-year commitments, reviewed annually, and offered by invitation only. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals.

Local

The Foundation’s local grants support institutions and organizations in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Francisco counties, where the members of the Board live and work. The San Francisco Bay Area is a diverse and treasured place, and these organizations enhance the culture of the region, enrich the lives of its residents, and provide vital support to individuals in need.

Special Opportunities

The Foundation’s special opportunity grants are those made outside the Foundation’s program areas.
